Your Best “Roses Are Red” poems

By Barrett Downing

I’ve decided to have a bit of a challenge for everyone. I’m going around and asking for everyone’s best Roses are Red poems, then compiling them here along with a few of my own. This should be rather interesting.

EX: Roses are yellow,

Violets are yellow,

Everything’s yellow,

Mustard is nice.

I’m a great poet, I know, but I’m curious to see some other entries. The first (victim) happy contestant is…

Riley “Thursdoo” Cummings:

Roses are red,

Violets are blue,

Paper is white,

America: pew pew

Elena Allred:

Roses are red,

Violets are purple,

Lots of other things are red,

Very educational

Sophie Rumman:

Roses are red,

Violets are blue,

I don’t know,

How ‘bout you?

Mr. Mercer himself (wearing a Michigan shirt):

Roses are red,

Scarlet is red,

I wore this t-shirt

For all of you

Niki Malekpour:

Roses are red,

Niki is white,

She doesn’t really tan,

When she’s in the sunlight

My turn:

Roses are red,

Violets are violet,

I think that I’m sad

‘Cuz I’m not really smilin’

That was rea-lly fun.

But it could use some more spice,

How ‘bout some hai-kus?
