“Ladies and gentlemen…” The speak\r booms as Newsies is about to start. All the months of dancing, tumbling, and singing has paid off. It was such an amazing show. With OHJH students in it such as Luke Gnepper as Albert, Ella Douglas as Les, and Charlie Estes as Buttons.
Based on the real-life Newsboy Strike of 1899, this new Disney musical tells the story of Jack Kelly, a rebellious newsboy who dreams of a life as an artist away from the big city. After publishing giant Joseph Pulitzer raises newspaper prices at the newsboys’ expense, Kelly and his fellow newsies take action. With help from the beautiful female reporter Katherine Plumber, all of New York City soon recognizes the power of “the little man.” Jack Kelley played by Henry Seifried and Davey played by George Mancy did a phenomenal job. All of the cast members did great with their tumbling, dancing, and acting. The seniors will bid farewell to the senior musicals now do to the end of this play but they did a wonderful job. It will be hard to say goodbye.
Most of the cast members will still be here next year though for another amazing cast show. Be sure to stay tuned on Darrin Broadway’s twitter to find out what the next show will be.
