Since before summer break ended, there has been a huge project going on in the OHJHS parking lot. This has caused a lot of chatter throughout both this school and elementary.
This huge project is the Kadens Family Fitness Center, designed to give the students and the community of the school a fitness area that is more diverse than that of the Weight Room.
Such a large project must have cost a lot of money. Leading the funding for The Fitness Center is Erica Silk, who says this, “The Kadens Family Health and Wellness Center, and that campaign does 3 things. One, construct the new fitness center. Two, to renovate the locker rooms under the gym. Three, to renovate the multi-purpose room. All three of those will benefit all students in the district, because all students go to this school, and can use those facilities, when the elementary students come up to this school when they come over to the multi-purpose room, for things, like, acting out, or camps.”
“It’s epic. The whole concept is epic.”
-Parker Conlan, 7th grade
“I like it. I think it will be helpful to the athletes in high school.”
-Ian Flanigan, 7th grade
“I think it’s a worthwhile investment.”
-Maddox Smith, 8th grade
“I think that the weight room is needed because the old one is small and inefficient.”
-Truman Talbott, Sophomore
“I think that it will be very beneficial to everybody, and easy to access. I wish it had been done a little bit earlier so we could have more time with it, but, in the end it should be good.”
-Scott Davis, Senior
“Waste of money. Probably could use the money for the multi.”
-Nick Brandt, 7th grade
“Should’ve invested the money into science.”
-Kadin McLennan, 7th grade
“Well, I don’t really like it that much, but that’s just because I’m not gonna be able to use it, and it’s gonna be taking up a lot of [parking] spots. So even if it was finished, I still wouldn’t use it. So, I mean, I don’t really mind it as long as it’s done quick. And, sometimes it really disrupts my classes.
